Now that race day is finally here you are free to go out and walk, run, cycle or skate your OSCA Virtual Run For Nova Scotia whenever and however you wish.

Virtual run/walks are a unique way to participate in a collective effort and event. There are a lot of ways to organize and execute these, and here is what we’re doing:

📸 POST A PIC/SELFIE/SCREENSHOT

Before, during and after your run or walk on June 28th, snap a selfie, group picture and/or a screen shot of your tracking app and post it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or you can email them to us at oscarun@specialconstables.ca so that we can share them on our website and social media accounts.

SAFETY WARNING: friendly reminder to be sure that all photo’s posted to not identify your home address or licence plate or any other identifier that could impact your privacy. You can use a photo editor app to blur out or scratch out details you don’t want to share with others, for example, if your tracking app shows your GPS location’s start and stop point (your home address).

About The OSCA Virtual Run For Nova Scotia

The April 2020 shootings in the Portapique area of Nova Scotia have had a deep and lasting impact on people from across Canada. We are all left feeling deeply effected, saddened, and hurt by the tragic loss of life.

Like all Canadians, OSCA members have been wanting to do something positive to help and show the people of Nova Scotia that they are supported and that they are in our thoughts.

The Ontario Special Constable Association have organised a virtual run aimed at bringing people from across Canada together to unite "virtually" to help raise funds for the individuals, families, and communities impacted by the April 2020 Nova Scotia shootings.

The event is open to everyone, you don't need to be a Special Constable to take part in the run for Nova Scotia!

  • Every participant will receive an OSCA Virtual Run #NovaScotiaStrong custom finishers medal and virtual run bib
  • Participate from wherever you are in the world
  • Improve your fitness
  • Join with a community of others, participating for the same cause
  • Choose your distance, either 5k or 10k
  • Your choice to either run, walk or treadmill your chosen distance at your own pace
  • Raise money for individuals, families, and communities impacted by the tragedy

Join our run community and get on the OSCA Virtual Run For Nova Scotia Facebook event page.

What Is A Virtual Run?

A virtual run is an easy, flexible running (or walking) event in which participants register online to participate in from any location, anywhere in the world! You can run, walk or treadmill your chosen distance from home and still be involved in a great event at your own pace, whatever your level of fitness while at the same time raising money for an important cause.

Who Can Participate?

Anyone can participate in the OSCA Virtual Run For Nova Scotia. You do not need to be a law enforcement officer or first responder to take part in this event, but we would love to see as many Canadian first responders taking part to show their support to the people of Nova Scotia.

How Does It Work?

  • Register to participate online and pay your entry fee
  • On event day you will complete your run or walk in your own time, at your own pace, according to your own schedule
  • After the event date we will send you your finishers medal
  • Once the event is complete we will send all of the event profits to the Canadian Red Cross Stronger Together Nova Scotia Fund
